OOC Information
Alcestis Lau is a Psycian heart cleric, dedicated to the God of Shadows, Lord Set - her attraction to this faith is mysterious, given her background. She is relatively young, and comes from an upper-middle class merchant family. Her appearance is typical of Psycian women: dark hair, pale red eyes, and a very petite stature (about 4'9"). She visits the Nexus whenever she needs a break from working with her trainers and holding charity drives. She's polite and mild-mannered, as are most Psycians, but she is most definitely not preoccupied with morality. Ambition drives her, and she really wants power most of all - the only difference between her and an ordinary villain is that she'd actually use that power for good.
Whatever she does in the Nexus does not mix with her home gameworld; however, things that happen there do change her behavior in the Nexus. This is just an excuse for me to play her without dealing with all the political strife back in Spur.
From the Dragon's Gate manual:
"Psycians are a race of human-like beings with incredible telepathic and psionic powers. They are highly intelligent and are regarded as the wisest of all the races. They are also a deeply emotional people; however, this is often masked by their calm and distant outward appearances. Their natural psychic abilities are capable of probing the minds of others in close contact, granting them a deeper insight into the world around them. This innate power grants even the very young an uncanny wisdom for which the race is renowned."
"Members of the Order of the Heart (Heart Clerics) are primarily healers of their temples, and are expected by their god to concentrate upon gaining experience in channeling and other healing techniques. They are also very skilled in the art of healing and support rune-magick."
"Set is most often worshipped by the impoverished and the lower class individuals of society, as Set condones and expects his worshipers to acquire goods for the temple through the use of sneakiness and chicanery. Many followers of Set believe they are here to help strengthen society. They believe that by eliminating monopolies on trade and freeing capital you will eventually establish an equal society through the redistribution of wealth. In any case, the followers of Set seek to better themselves in an unbalanced social structure.
The symbol of Set is that of a sinuous serpent with no apparent head or tail (the head and tail hold special significance within the temple). His teachings are those of stealth, elusiveness, quickness, and subtlety. Set's temple was once banned from the Spur, but shortly afterward the city was mysteriously plagued by snakes of all kinds for over a month. The ban was lifted and the snakes disappeared. Ever since, the city has grudgingly accepted the temple's presence."

Also, as you've likely figured by now: this character is fictional, this journal created for roleplaying purposes. Carry on.
